Hooray! We received confirmation that Emerald has transferred the full amount of our deposit to this booking. I called to pay the balance and now have to research trip cancellation insurance.
The big question is “where else to go and what else to do”?
Something I found was a need to apply for travel authorization to enter Europe in 2024. It’s a travel authorization program for visa-free visitors called ETIAS. The EU decided to implement this program to protect and strengthen its borders. By having travelers register, they’ll be better able to monitor any threats or risks as visitors enter the country.
According to ETIAS’ website, once the application is available online, it should only take about ten minutes to fill out and comes with that €7 application fee. The approval lasts for three years. An email arrives within 96 hours of applying that confirms the ETIAS has been approved, but I can’t see when the program actually starts.
