We have had lots of cloudy rainy days with some strong thunderstorms, but Sunday morning dawned sunny and beautiful. I’ll take that as a good sign that our travel will progress without any hiccups.
Tyler picked us up at 11 and we got to the airport at 11:40. Used our nexus cards to proceed quickly through security and found ourselves in our favourite spot at the airport! Okay, the beer is criminally expensive, but come on….it’s the opening serve on a big adventure!

Sharon and Dean arrived and we were at the gate, ready to go for our 2pm flight. Our flight was full, full, full! The agent checking people’s personal items for under the seat was from Romania! Isn’t that crazy! I told her our boys used to dance Ukrainian dances originating from the Carpathian Mountains and she said she dances Romanian folk dances. I should have asked if she performed at Folklorama!!
We only had a couple of hours to kill in Toronto airport, so we found a spot to sit and had a beer and some snacks. This was another very full flight and we got away at 2:40.
We arrived in Munich around 10am on Monday morning. It is truly amazing how we can cope with little sleep! We stumbled around trying to figure out how to get to the outdoor beer garden that Dean had found online, but finally gave up and settled in a spot in terminal 2. I asked the table next to us to take our picture and a few minutes later, the little boy at that table asked where we were from. I have some Canada flag trinkets with me and this would have been a perfect opportunity to share one, but I didn’t think of it.

We arrived to Bucharest easily at 6:43pm and found Luanne & Dan. Our AirBnB host picked us up and took us to our accommodation for the next couple of nights.

The National History Museum of Romania is housed in a historic building formerly called the Palace of the Posts, erected between 1894 and 1899
Another building we passed was the Stavropoleos Monastery.

We went for a walk to find a drink and food and were impressed with all the action on the streets.

Back at our apartment, we settled in and were hoping to be ready for an early start on Tuesday.
