We arrived to Belgrade around 6:45am and were rafted to Emerald Destiny, which was headed to Bucharest. It felt like Belgrade was the biggest city we had been docked in yet.
We were ready to go at 9 this morning. There were 16 of us on the bike tour. We walked through the Emerald Destiny to get to the sidewalk where the pedal-assist bikes had been offloaded.

Danilo was our guide and gave us a history lesson along the way. One unusual thing is that there are nightclubs on the River that run to the wee small hours, and because there is nobody living nearby, there is nobody to complain about the noise!

We biked along the Sava River, ending at Ada Island where there was an artificial lake. We paused for a beer and then went non-stop back to the ship.

I was sure glad of the pedal-assist as we sped along! There were several places I would have liked to stop for pictures, but we just kept on pedalling!
Meanwhile Luanne did the bus and walking tour. She saw St Salvo’s church, which is the second largest orthodox church. It was begun in 1930 (pre communism) but not finished until 2022 (post communism)!
We had lunch at 12:30 and the Winnipeg five took the complimentary shuttle downtown at 2:30pm. We walked around the old town and spent time in the Kalemegdan Fortress. It was hot and sweaty but enjoyable.

We made our way back to the ship around 5pm for a drink in the lounge. We had to return our passports to the front desk by 6:45 for immigration again, I think.
We had drinks in Luanne and Dan’s cabin, so we missed the port talk, but got our usual table for dinner.

The folklore show in the evening was amazing. High energy!
