Thursday June 6 in transit to Luzern

I had been in correspondence with someone from KoBi Boutique Studios about checking in, so paid the local tax and received the code to check in at 3pm. Luanne and Dan were in Luzern already, so planned to meet us at the train station and keep our luggage in their room until we could get access to ours.

We had to be out of our lovely apartment at 9am so walked over to the train station and caught the first train to Interlaken OST. We stood at the platform for about 20 minutes before the Panoramic Express pulled in. “All aboard!” at 10:05 and off we went with the Lucerne–Interlaken Express over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne. Thanks to panoramic windows, we had spectacular views through the heart of Switzerland.

At Lungern one of the people from our car got off to take pictures and the train left without him!

Another couple got on and said it will only be a 10 minute ride, but they were going to Luzern so it was actually an hour and ten minute ride! Apparently reading a timetable is difficult – hahahaha.

We arrived in Luzern at 11:55 and followed instructions from Luanne and Dan to meet them under the Welcome to Luzern arch. Can you see them in this picture?

They walked us to the apartment and in the meantime, we had received confirmation that our room was ready, so we were able to get into Room 422. Our room was pretty tiny, but also had more than we need for our two night stay. It was very clean, with a modern bathroom, and an efficient kitchen with a fridge, sink, oven and dishes.

It was lunch time so we stopped at a restaurant along the riverfront. We went for a walk around, admiring this pretty city, and ended in the Coop store, buying drinks and provisions for breakfast. We had a visit with Luanne and Dan in their room, and then a wee break in our room until 6:45, when we headed to Stadtkeller restaurant.

We were lucky that Luanne & Dan were able to make a reservation for dinner and the Folklore show.
